IDFG Commission to meet in Bonners Ferry

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game Commission will meet July 11 and 12 at the Kootenai River Inn in Bonners Ferry.

A public hearing will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at the Kootenai River Inn.

The commission meeting will convene at 8 a.m. Thursday, July 12, at the Kootenai Wildlife Refuge, 287 Westside Road, Bonners Ferry. Commissioners will consider nonbiological rules for all game animals, nonresident deer and elk tag quotas, nonresident deer and elk tag outfitter set-aside, and release of bighorn sheep tags for auction and lottery. They also will consider a mentor hunt rule and rules to implement new state laws.

Commissioners will provide direction on the expenditure of animal damage control funds, and they will hear legislative proposals, a migratory game bird and sage-grouse briefing, a presentation on the fiscal 2014 preliminary budget, and consider a season for sandhill cranes.

And they will consider fall Chinook fishing seasons in the Snake River and a portion of the Clearwater River in September and October.

From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, July 13, the commissioners will tour the Kootenai River.
