JUDGE: Questions about bankruptcy

| June 22, 2012 9:00 PM

While I am quite sure that it is permissible, is it normal for judges to file for bankruptcy? How does a person making $9,000 a month mismanage his finances to the degree that he has to file for bankruptcy? Granted these are tough economic times, but it’s not like he lost his job or something. How can he list the IRS as a creditor in a bankruptcy action? Or even a student loan?

How much does he owe in back taxes? Can any of us pile up these kind of debts and then pay just pennies on the dollar over three to five years and have the balance wiped clean? And what does all this say about his character? Where is the decency, honesty or integrity in this kind of example? If his judgment is this flawed in regard to his personal life, how can it be trusted in his professional life?
