GAS: Why the price gouging?

While I appreciate The Press publishing the little table telling us where we can spending several cents to go save a few cents for cheaper gas in our town, there’s something I don’t understand. Driving around town I can observe gas prices for myself plus when one station goes up or down they all automatically do the same. I well remember the gas wars of the late ‘60s when I paid as little as 19 cents a gallon in L.A.!
What I don’t understand is what ever happened to investigative reporting? In our neighboring state the news is that they just dipped below a $4 average and also in California. And then I see they’re paying as little a $2.89 in South Carolina! The question is WHY?
Come on “reporters!” WHY?
