DOCTORS: Second opinion worthwhile
I was referred by my doctor to have a surgeon in our area look at, and remove, a benign growth on my shoulder. The surgeon’s office was excellent and modern, yet he said I would need outpatient services elsewhere. Between the operating room, anesthesia, and the surgeon’s charges the total came to approximately $3,800! Hmmm, no money for that just yet. We’ll wait awhile on this procedure.
Boy, was I glad we did! My new friend just happens to work at another facility. I went there for a different issue, and then showed the doctor my growth. Next week I’m having it removed for approximately $450-$550.
Moral: It may cost another office visit, but second opinions can save you money!
P.S. My brother lives in Taiwan surrounded by some of the best hospitals and they would charge $350.
