RECALL: Launch was a lynchpin

| June 13, 2012 9:15 PM

Being from Post Falls, I do not have the right to vote on the McEuen park issue. But reading all the comments in The Press, it seems that a great majority of them are about the boat launch.

I use the launch in the late fall and early winter, as it is the best place to launch at that time of year. I do think that if the council had gone ahead and got another launch site set up before anything, there would have possibly not been a recall or not near as much of a problem.

That said, I would like to make one more comment about the commercial properties that are taking over around the lake, case in point Arrow Point and Black Rock, just to name two. Now Camp Easton will become another one if the sale is final.

Where does it stop? I can see in the not too distant future the lake will look like Lake Washington in Seattle, nothing but private property all around. Are we so money hungry that we would allow this to happen? I see multimillion dollar homes all around the lake that sit vacant for 8-10 months out of the year. What happens when the sewer systems start to fail and the sewage seeps into the lake?
