LUNCH: Schools did their job
This is to Lisa, the lady whose children were charging lunch at school. I have to agree that the charge should never have gotten out of hand like that, but she did say that she got email from the school. Lisa, why did you not call the lunch room and find out if you could put a block on the account? I have worked for the school lunch program (not in Coeur d’Alene) for about nine years now and if a child comes to school without a lunch by law the school had to feed them. If a staff member tells us that a child has no lunch, the school has to feed them, and that lunch has to be paid for. How upset would you have been if your child went without lunch that day? Are you not sure that your child was not tossing their lunch? You could have called the lunch room and the student’s teacher to let them know that your child should be eating a lunch from home. Do not blame the lunch room for doing their job.
