LUNCH: Discipline will solve problem

| June 13, 2012 9:15 PM

This is in response to the letter on Sunday, June 10 in the Coeur d’Alene Press, from Lisa Calder of Coeur d’Alene. Ms. Calder was extremely upset that the “School System” allowed her children (Grade School or Middle School?) to charge school lunches, after they were told by her they could not eat hot lunches, and packed their own lunch from home.

Whatever happened to discipline at home? She tells the kids “no hot lunches,” they throw their home-made lunch in the trash, and eat hot lunch anyway, without paying for them? Then she’s upset when the School System bills her for the hot meals!

Why do parents today think that the School System and teachers should discipline their kids? Based on the invoices she claimed she received, one of her kids had to eat 74 hot meals and the other ate 64 of them. That’s a lot of hot meals being eaten behind your momma’s back, and possibly a ton of home-made lunches being trashed as well, so that momma wouldn’t know!

Her “spare the rod and spoil the child” philosophy is not working! School teachers and administrators are not paid to discipline your children!
