FIREFIGHTER: He was fired May 24

| June 13, 2012 9:15 PM

Recently, there have been several comments and opinions voiced in the media regarding Northern Lakes Fire District. Though we fully respect others’ rights to speak their mind and have taken a position to let pass, comments which may not be based entirely on fact or even accurate, a recent letter to the editor by a Mary H. Marley requires our response.

Unfortunately, and at a tremendous shock to all of us here at Northern Lakes Fire, and immeasurable pain to his family, one of our former employees was recently arrested on felony charges. Mr. Miller was immediately placed on paid administrative leave until further facts were gathered.

When additional information was provided to our chief officers and commissioners by law enforcement, it was determined that Mr. Miller violated Northern Lakes Fire Protection District’s policies and core values. Due to the serious nature of these violations and just cause, his employment was immediately terminated effective May 24, 2012.

As Northern Lakes Fire continues to strive to provide the very best emergency services possible, we ask that those voicing their opinions please do so with accurate information. Our staff is always more than willing to meet with anyone who has questions or concerns, through phone calls or in person. Please do not hesitate to contact us at (208) 772-5711 if you have questions or need assistance.
