BULLYING: Schools must clamp down

| June 3, 2012 9:00 PM

I want to bring up a little concern that is still going on in the schools — BULLYING.

My daughter is constantly being bullied and nothing is being done about it. She goes to a middle school in Coeur d’Alene. I tried to get her transferred to another school, but because of zoning they won’t let her.

Just the other day a “perfect” girl at her bus stop took her backpacks and threw them. She had to go chase them down and ended up missing the bus. A nice police officer gave her a ride to school, and when she got to school that same girl ruined my daughter’s tennis shoes and when she retaliated she got detention.

That is only two instances; there are more. I am fed up because the middle school is doing nothing to stop it. My daughter is in karate and will become an orange belt next month. I gave her permission that if that girl tries something at the bus stop again to kick her butt.

We are on a limited income; I can’t afford new backpacks or shoes. The teachers need to be more proactive to stop the bullying. I know of one other girl being bullied; it is worse for her because she isn’t in karate and can’t defend herself. As a matter of fact they are blaming her for the bullying.

What is it going to take to get bullying stopped? Let me know please. Hopefully it won’t be when someone gets seriously hurt or even dies.

It is sad my daughter has to take matters into her own hands. This has been going on all year and she has one more year left in the same school.
