Coeur d'Alene has Idaho's highest unemployment
According to a U.S. Department of Labor report released Wednesday, Coeur d'Alene is No. 1 in Idaho.
But it's not a top ranking any city would want.
The Lake City was honored for its percentage of unemployed folks, at 9.2. The number of those without jobs was counted at 6,700.
In comparison, Idaho's number of unemployed was reported at 60,000, for a percent of unemployed of 7.8 percent.
Missoula took the top spot in Montana, with a percentage of unemployed at 6.3, and 3,700 without work.
In Washington, the most unemployed city was Longview, at 10.8 percent, based on 4,700 without work.
According to the report, unemployment rates were lower in 342 out of 372 metropolitan areas in April, compared to the same time last year.
The report said that in April, 41 metropolitan areas reported jobless rates of at least 10 percent, down from 79 areas a year earlier, while 163 areas posted rates below 7 percent, up from 100 areas in April of last year.
