OFFENDERS: Pity isn't in the plan

| July 25, 2012 9:15 PM

Regarding “There’s no second chance,” Bill Johnson: If you really are serious about being accepted by society, then the whole purpose of your group must be to make amends. If it’s not possible to do that with your victim, then you and your group could establish a fund to help victims of sexual crimes.

You are right. Society doesn’t care if you feel bad. We WANT you to feel bad, bad enough to stop hurting other people and bad enough to do everything in your power to make amends.

If you are really serious about being accepted by society again, then stop right now with the bellyaching about not having a second chance. You don’t need a support group — YOU are not a victim. There are few things more disgusting than a group of sexual offenders feeling sorry for themselves while relating and enjoying memories of their crimes.

Enough of this forgiveness stuff! Go to God, your priest or minister, not to society. Pray that your victim can forgive you, but don’t look to us. You don’t need a therapist in attendance to “help” you feel better about yourself, you need a conscience. Get the focus off yourself for a change.

And just to make sure you are not sharing information and fantasies about current sexual plans with your group, have a cop attend your group meetings.
