Delbert Napier, 76
Delbert Napier, 76, went to be with our other favorite angel — his son Rick Napier — on July 16, 2012, passing away in Seattle. Delbert was born April 3, 1936, in Manchester, Ky., to Fred and Alice Napier.
On June 14, 1958, he married Darlene Bitterman and together they had five children — Rick (Sandy Napier), Tami (Steve Mills), Danny, Gene and Billie Horvath. Along with many “adopted” children!
Delbert loved camping and floating the Coeur d’Alene and St. Joe rivers, hunting with his father-in-law and brother-in-law, riding his four-wheeler and boating on Lake Coeur d’Alene. Delbert never knew a stranger — the Napier house was always open to everyone!
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Darlene; sons, Danny and Gene; and daughters, Tami and Billie, all of Coeur d’Alene; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother Danny and Onie Napier of Williamstown, Ky.; and twin sister Geneva and Bill James of Richmond, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.
Delbert is preceded in death by his son, Rick Napier; parents, Fred Napier and Alice Brooks; sisters, Ruth Rhodus and Myrt Belew; brother Frank Napier; and in-laws, Art Bitterman, Esther Bitterman and Dick Bitterman.
Delbert also served six years in the United States Air Force.
Please join us for a celebration of Delbert’s life at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at his house — 1615 Lost Ave., Coeur d’Alene.
