Video surveillance helps catch prowler
A few weeks ago a local establishment discovered that someone had broken into one of their buildings and vandalized it. Fortunately, they had a professional video surveillance system installed during the previous month.
Their system had already provided them with invaluable information on two previous occasions. This time it again came through for them. The prowler was captured by several of their cameras and their system recorded him as he went from door to door and window to window trying to find a way inside. It finally showed him "Jimmying" a door open and going inside one of their buildings.
They shared the video with a couple of their neighbors and turned a copy over to the Coeur d'Alene Police Department so they could begin their investigation as well as put the word out on the street to be on the lookout for the perpetrator.
Then a few days ago one of their neighbors that had seen the video observed a man that fit the description of the prowler. He quickly contacted the victim and they were able to follow the man while calling the Coeur d'Alene police on their cellphone. They saw where the man went and coordinated with the police to provide them with his location. The police apprehended the man and identified him as the prowler. Video surveillance once again shows what happened, when it happened and who did it.
