FARRIS: Who he really is
Terrible things are found in that place filled with fear. For me, that place was in a 20-foot trailer parked on an abandoned mountain road as my brothers and I were huddled around a kerosene lantern praying to God that we would survive the bitter cold that night. Often times the only sense to be found when nothing seems clear is that God must be in control.
Many of you share my struggle; we are bonded in a daily journey to be more by doing more. We fail, and fail again. But we never quit because we must succeed. There is a silver lining in our every failure and triumph always follows many failures.
Early in my life a young man took me under his wing and showed me you didn’t have to be the biggest to succeed, you didn’t have to be the strongest to reach the reward, you simply had to be the most driven and determined to overcome adversity. Despite the fame he received or the distances from home his amazing journey took him, he always remembered his home.
To me he is Jimmy, to you he may simply be known as Candidate Farris for Congress, but I am proud to call him my friend. He is an Idaho boy, born and bred, who reached the pinnacles of personal success and won a Super Bowl. He is fiscally conservative, an advocate for individual liberty and socially responsible.
As I began, terrible things are found in that place filled with fear, but it is because of the inspiring stories of Idaho’s youth who succeed and return home that we can find hope.
