Alpaca Direct employees and customers love summertime. We get to switch gears from all of our winter knitting and crochet projects and pull out the easy, breezy yarns and patterns.

We are especially excited this month to feature our line of Pima Cotton yarns. You might be wondering what Pima Cotton is exactly. We are glad you asked! Pima Cotton is also called extra long staple cotton. It is a type of cotton grown primarily in Peru, the southwestern United States and Australia. It is durable and absorbent and is considered to be one of the superior blends of cotton.

This type of cotton is named after the Pima, a group of American Indians who first cultivated the plant in the U.S., but the cotton's origins are its cultivation in Peru. It washes like a dream in cold water and can be tumbled dry on low. Just one look at all the beautiful colors we carry and we know you will be starting a project soon.
