Opera cruise tickets on sale

| July 6, 2012 9:00 PM

"Waves of Opera" will flow over guests as Opera Coeur d'Alene takes to the lake for its annual cruise, July 22, loading at 6 p.m. Always an early sellout, the cruise this year will feature the passionate music of Christina Kowalski, Gino Luchetti, Coeur d'Alene's own Rebekkah Monitz and Opera Coeur d'Alene's internationally-celebrated and multi-faceted general director, Todd Robinson.

Kowalski is an Opera Coeur d'Alene favorite with a long national and international resume. Luchetti is one of western Washington's most celebrated tenors, with major roles throughout British Columbia, the Seattle area and Oregon. Rebekkah Monitz, choral director at Coeur d'Alene High School, has sung with Opera Coeur d'Alene, Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre and Lake City Playhouse.

Opera Coeur d'Alene brings world class opera to Coeur d'Alene's stage each year. This September it will produce "Carmen" with three well-known Metropolitan Opera artists.

The organization also presents free concerts, including one in The Coeur d'Alene Resort Plaza Shops July 13 at 7 p.m., and children's operas in regional schools.

The evening cruise is an annual favorite year. Besides the live music, usually in the open air, there will be complimentary hors d'oeuvres during intermission and a no host bar. General admission is $45 plus tax or $55 plus tax for a table.

Early reservations are encouraged because tickets sell out quickly each year.
