REHAB: Here's how it's working

| July 4, 2012 9:15 PM

Tax dollars are clearly at work here at the North Idaho Correctional Institution. You have probably heard about those of us fortunate enough to be given the opportunity for drug and alcohol treatment here on the Rider program in Cottonwood, Idaho.

Since starting this therapeutic community program, I have learned how to manage my life in recovery. I have learned what it takes to stay sober and once again be a productive member of society. With the help of my higher power Jesus Christ, I feel more confident than ever that I will never again be a burden on my community.

Thanks to my counselors and support staff, I have learned the most important lesson of all. I have learned to identify my criminal and addictive thinking that led me to break the law in the first place. Identifying my distorted thinking patterns and implementing new thoughts has been the key to my success in this program. Now that I am at the end of my program, I am looking forward to giving back to our community. I would just like to thank the residents of Kootenai County and apologize for the burden I once was.
