Gregory Brebner, 55
Gregory Stuart Brebner, 55, of Hamilton, Mont., passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Kootenai County Medical Center.
Greg was born Aug. 26, 1956. Adopted son of James and Hazel Brebner, of Spokane, where Greg spent his early years.
He attended Sacajawea middle school and later both Lewis and Clark and Ferris high schools.
His interests as a young man included scouting and sailing. Greg honed his sailing skills on Lake Coeur d’Alene where his family maintained a summer residence on Casco Bay.
He was often spotted “flying a hull” on his Hobie Cat on breezy days at the lake. Happiest when on the water, Greg worked for a time for Murphy Construction on the lake, building docks and driving pilings. Outgoing, cheerful and hardworking, Greg was a valued employee no matter where he was employed.
Known for a wicked sense of humor as well as an excellent cook on the grill. Not easily intimidated he was a bit of a rebel who lived life on his own terms. This attitude unfortunately led to setbacks in later years leading to a life cut short.
A bachelor to the end, Greg left no heirs. His parents, Jim and Hazel, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his brother, Jed Brebner, of Savanah, Ga. A small gathering of friends will hold a celebration of his life and times on Lake Coeur d’Alene in mid-July.
