Paul Truebenbach, 65
Paul Truebenbach, of Post Falls, passed away Jan. 27, 2012, after a two and a half year battle with cancer.
A native of Milwaukee, Wis., he graduated from Valparaiso University (Indiana) in 1968 with a BSBA degree, majoring in economics, and received a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Law in Madison in 1972. Before entering law school, Paul had two years of military duty during the Vietnam conflict, serving in the U.S. Army at Letterman General Hospital in San Francisco.
After finishing law school, he worked as a trial attorney in San Francisco for the law firm of Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro. He was hired by Chevron Corporation in 1982 and was promoted during his career into positions of ever increasing management responsibility, including the position of Regional Counsel responsible for the management of legal services provided through attorneys, paralegals and staff personnel located in five offices in the U.S. and Canada for the refining, transportation and marketing of petroleum products by Chevron throughout all of North America.
He retired at the end of 2005 but continued until his death providing antitrust, commercial and regulatory advice to the Western States Petroleum Association and a family of companies engaged primarily in the wireless communication network business in various global locations, primarily China and Peru.
Paul was admitted to practice law before Federal and State courts in both California and Idaho and was also an inactive member of the Wisconsin State Bar. He graded bar admission exams for the Idaho State Bar Association after he and his wife relocated to Idaho.
Paul is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jan, and three children: daughters Emily Bouquot (and son-in-law Alan Bouquot, Boise) and Courtney (Coeur d'Alene), and son Fr. Paul Loren (and daughter-in-law Presbytera Lavinia, Cincinnati, Ohio).
He is also survived by his brother, Tom and his wife, Pat, (Oconomowoc, Wis.) and sister Nancy Nesbitt with her husband, John, (Green Bay, Wis.), and their families; and numerous nieces and nephews. His death is also mourned by Jan's sisters, Jenny Jensvold and her husband, David, (Hauser) and Jane Duncan with her husband, Stan, (Redwood City, Calif.) and their families; and his mother-in-law, Jean Weingand (Post Falls).
Paul was raised in Green Bay and remained a committed Packer fan throughout his life. He was also an avid golfer and was active as an officer and Board member with various church and nonprofit organizations throughout his career, including Lutheran Care for the Aging and the Ella M. Rohlffs Foundation (both San Francisco).
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, persons interested make contributions in Paul's name to Hospice of North Idaho.
