MOVIE: Blackout angers 'Red Tails' fan
The George Lucas movie "Red Tails" opened nationwide last Friday.
Lucas had a lot of trouble getting this movie made because of the bigotry that still exists in this country of ours. He was told that the trouble was created because there are no major roles for whites in the picture. He ended up financing the making and the distributing of the movie himself.
My wife and I saw the trailer at the Regal Riverstone Stadium 14 and thought we would see the movie there when it was released.
Much to my surprise, when I called to get the show times on opening day, I was informed that this movie would not be shown in Coeur d'Alene.
I told the person that I was talking to that I thought this was despicable.
My wife and I went to the valley theater and enjoyed the movie a lot. (As an old fighter pilot, I thought the flying scenes, although most were computer generated, were great.)
The story of the Tuskeegee airmen of World War II is one we all should be aware of. I'm always hearing of the respect for veterans and service people that Idahoans have. This does not seem to hold if they are Black!
I think that not showing this film of true American Heroes is an act that we all should complain about.
