DOGS: Catch a whiff of this

In response to Catherine McLandress' letter of Jan. 22. I too got fed up with irresponsible dog owners who don't leash their dogs (or clean up their "business"). After several of these encounters, when I have either been growled at or had unwanted muddy paws all over my pants, I have taken matters into my own hands. I now carry pepper spray and show the container to the dog owner before the dog gets too close. 

If the city won't patrol the park, then we must take matters into our own hands. I encourage all law abiding citizens to carry pepper spray, available at all local sporting good stores. If you don't feel confident using it, a quick lesson is available at Center Target Sports in Post Falls. Either play by the rules, keep your dog at home or get what's coming to you. Self-defense is the best offense. I refuse to be a victim.
