EDITORIAL: An argument for choice

| January 25, 2012 9:00 PM

I thought your recent editorial in support of schools acting as a locus for provision of social services pointed out once again the urgency in adopting a method for true choice in education for Idaho.

Most non-government schools already integrate charitable acts and civic service days into their curriculum, in a broader, more holistic view of what constitutes a child's "education" yet middle-class and lower income parents in Idaho are prevented from accessing these excellent schools - which are already operating in their neighborhoods. Other states are leading the way. We continue to lag behind in the area of educational choice. Let's hope this year's legislative session levels the playing field and lets parents of limited means begin to direct where their own children's educational dollars are spent.

I urge interested Idahoans to check out www.Ideserveoptions.com.
