DOGS: Obey Tubbs Hill rule
At both entrances to Tubbs Hill there are very clear signs that state "DOGS MUST BE LEASHED AT ALL TIMES WHILE ON TUBBS HILL." I am not sure which part of that rule is not clear to some people as they seem to think that the rule simply does not apply to them.
I hike or run Tubbs Hill on a regular basis and have for years. Recently I have noticed an increase in people who feel that it is just fine for their dog or dogs to run free. Just in the past two months my two dogs have been attacked three times by various dogs running free. The owners were unable to control their dog as my leashed dogs were being attacked. Each time the owner had a leash in their hand and never once apologized for the attack. This frightened me and also prompted me to write this letter.
I have spoken with Animal Control but they are short staffed and do not have the time or resources to patrol the hill. I have a suggestion: Why don't we all patrol ourselves and our dogs and follow the rule that DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON A LEASH AT ALL TIMES WHILE ON TUBBS HILL. We have a dog park where people can let their dogs run free. Please use it when you do not want to leash your dog.
