PRESIDENTS: How to hit a nerve

| January 20, 2012 8:00 PM

Recently The Press published a letter I wrote relating to what notable features I remembered about U.S. presidents over the past 50 years of my life. Two local Democrats, Mr. Marty Meyer and Ms. Deb Philp, whom I do not know nor have ever met, decided to take it upon themselves to help with my memory.

After reading both of their attempts at saving me from myself, and after my laughter had subsided, I recalled an incident in my life that happened when I visited my local dentist. As I remember it, I arrived at his office one day and upon being escorted into one of his work cubicles I was comfortably seated in one of those reclining dental chairs we all have had the privilege of sitting in. Soon my dentist entered and after some small talk he asked me to "open my mouth." I willingly obliged and he thus proceeded to "probe" inside with one of those SHARP, metal instruments.

There I was, sitting comfortably in that chair with my mouth wide open and saying absolutely NOTHING. Soon it happened. My dentist HIT A NERVE and my body contorted in anguishing pain. Immediately, my dentist said to me, "Oh, is that sensitive?" To Ms. Philp and Mr. Meyer I would just like to say: "Oh, is what I wrote sensitive?"

I am 67 years old and my memory is perfect. I have had a wonderful life after graduating from high school and have enjoyed the fruits of my hard labor. I have paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes over my lifetime, just as other high-income Americans have done, and now as I am getting older, I find that I am getting tired of "pulling the wagon." Pulling the wagon is my expression for people such as Ms. Philp and Mr. Meyer asking people like me to pay more and more of my hard earned money to support the proverbial "government SOW."

When I was younger this government SOW had less "tits" on it and fewer people were sucking off of this SOW. Now in 2012, the number of "tits" on this SOW and the number of people sucking on them have grown to proportions which are unsustainable financially. This can no longer continue and something has to take place to change it. That something, I am praying for daily, is that Obama is defeated in the next election.

People like Ms. Philp and Mr. Meyer are going to believe what they want to believe and it is certainly not my place in life to convince them otherwise. However, there are others across America who are able to discern truth from fiction. These are the people who give me hope for our future as a free nation, and these are the people who will preserve our nation's freedoms which I and millions of other Americans have enjoyed, in place. America has far too many "suckling's" feeding off the "government SOW." If voters fail to see this come November, then America shall continue to proceed down the path to socialism.

We have had 50 years of Democrat programs and have spent literally TRILLIONS of dollars of taxpayer money and it is now time to begin realizing that this "government SOW" is out of milk - I mean taxpayer money. Sorry, my memory is not too good.
