Avista Energy Fair to be held in Cd'A

Coeur d'Alene is the location for the next Avista Energy Fair scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 25, from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the Lake City Center, 1916 N. Lakewood Drive.

The event will be filled with demonstrations of ways to keep homes warm and safe this winter. In addition, Avista employees will be available to share information about billing assistance and payment options.

Community organizations, including Community Action Partnership, Money Management International, Tax-Aide, ElderHelp of North Idaho, USDA Rural Development of Idaho and WorkSource are scheduled to be on hand to answer questions and provide information about weatherization programs, budgeting and tax preparation services, job search programs and more.

It is free.

Fair attendees can speak with Avista staff and learn first-hand about low-cost and no-cost energy efficiency tips. They will see how to install such things as rope caulk, window plastic and door sweeps. And following each demonstration, Avista employees will answer questions and provide free samples of each item used in the demonstration.

Macomber hired by Gonzaga law school

Coeur d'Alene-based water law and land use attorney Arthur B. Macomber has been hired as an Adjunct Professor of Law by Gonzaga University School of Law for teaching a spring 2012 Transactional Skills and Professionalism Lab, a required two-credit contracts course for first-year law students.

The course focuses on skills lawyers need for transactional practice, such as ascertaining the parties' intentions through interviews and negotiation, creatively structuring deals and drafting terms to achieve that intent, and imagining events that might later interfere with the transaction outcomes.

The course takes students through the early development of a commercial transaction, negotiating its terms and structure, and the drafting of transaction documents.

Macomber is licensed in both Washington and Idaho. He has taught Contracts for Paralegals at North Idaho College since 2007. Macomber Law, PLLC provides legal counsel on real property, land use, construction, and water law issues.
