EAGLES: Admire from safe places
I know what a treat it is to have the bald eagles come in every year at this time, however, I also know what a hazard it is to those who drive Highway 97 on a daily basis. Highway 97 is just that, a highway. It is not a nature trail, a hiking trail or a parking lot.
If you want to go watch the eagles, please be respectful of those birds and the people who utilize the highway everyday. Go the speed limit. If you want to stop, pull over off the pavement and don't open your car door into traffic. Walk facing the traffic and well away from the travel lane, and remember to keep that long lens of your camera out of the way as well.
Oh, and one more suggestion for those who park at the Mineral Ridge boat ramp. Pay the parking fee like those of us who utilize the boat ramp/docks have to.
