HEALTH CARE: Let free market rule

| February 22, 2012 9:00 PM

Dr. Loel Fenwick and I went to Boise last Tuesday to testify before the Idaho House Health and Welfare Committee on a free market health care system that, if fully implemented, would save the state over $3 billion a YEAR and allow the average Idaho family to accumulate, in an account they own and at no cost to them, over $120,000. These Health Responsibility and Savings Accounts (HealthRASA) would be used to pay for first dollar health care and could be transferred to your children.

Besides the testimony, we met with a number of legislators including the House leadership. We were well received by legislators who were enthusiastic to have a free market alternative to Obamacare.

Health insurance companies are eager to protect their cartels and are lobbying heavily against a free market solution. Idaho citizens spend $8.9 billion on health care, roughly $5,600 per year per citizen, yet we only receive $2,250 of cost effective and prudent care. Another $1,280 is spent of defensive and entitled opportunity care. The remaining $2,070 per citizen ($3.3 billion!), almost as much as the care itself, is spent on overhead. Nearly a third of every insurance premium dollar stays with the insurance company. It makes business sense to hire a lot of lobbyists to protect that level of cash flow.

Contact your legislator. Say NO to Obamacare Health Insurance Exchanges in Idaho. Say YES to Free Market Health Care! Raising Health. Saving Wealth.
