MARRIAGE: Not an education question

| February 15, 2012 9:00 PM

Front page news, Idaho man and wife. Jon Downing said the key is educating us "about tolerance," dissolve "the barrier of fear." Then Matt Cannon said, "CD1 has pockets of progressive residents."

So if you do not agree with them, then you don't have enough education and are not tolerant. If you do agree with them, then you are progressive.

Just call me an uneducated, non-tolerant, fearful person, who is not progressive. Wow, I never knew this about myself!

I had a good friend in Vietnam who was gay, he never told me this stuff. Of course he realized he was not mainstream and was not interested in cramming his lifestyle down my throat.

I also spent 26 years as a Deputy Sheriff in Los Angeles County. We had all kinds of training on gays and lesbians. Admittedly back then we did not teach about bisexual and transgender, probably were not progressive back then, just a backward county. Yes, I worked with both of the sexes and had no problems. I was not fearful and had all kinds of education.

What I am fearful of is, the constant cramming down my throat, you wanting to change the laws of the world to accommodate your lifestyle. You have all the civil laws and criminal laws to protect you. Civil unions protect your right to be with whomever you want to be with. Education you have won there too. It's in all the schools and soon will be in the hospital nurseries, just waiting for that baby to come out of the womb.

Same old thing, anyone who does not agree with you is intolerant, uneducated and certainly not very progressive. Thanks for pointing out my flaws.
