Calvin B. Mathis, 84

Calvin B. Mathis, 84, entered into rest on Feb. 13, 2012. He was born April 9, 1927, in Inkom, Idaho, to Benjamin and Laura (Cates) Mathis. He married Clara Griggs on Aug. 1, 1950. He served in the U.S. Marines. Calvin also owned service stations where he did mechanical work as well as owning Active Auction where he was the auctioneer. He also volunteered time at the Union Gospel Mission, in Spokane, in the 1970s. He is survived by sons Edward (Penny), of Post Falls, Gailord, of Spokane, daughters Laura Roll, Rebecca Stafford, of Coeur d' Alene, sister Doris Bell, Pocatello, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, longtime companion Joan Booth, sister Ruth Stewart, son Rick Mathis, granddaughter Meadow Roll, great grandson Jason Mathis. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. A celebration of life service will be held immediately following at the Pleasant View Church, 19459 W. Riverview Dr. Post Falls.
