SCHOOLS: Time to show integrity

| February 10, 2012 8:00 PM

In the continuing saga of local corruption, will Idaho Law ever be upheld? It is well beyond the 120-day period in which SD271 could appoint. Criminal intent by Edie Brooks was evident as she declared her resignation. She wanted her replacement to be of like-mind, not someone like Jim Purtee who narrowly lost to Brooks in the last school board election.

Measures have been implemented by Cliff Hayes and the Board of Commissioners to ensure the integrity of a "Resident's Vote." There is no way to test whether SD271-controlled elections had any integrity. Was a recount or analysis conducted in the Brooks-Purtee election?

Due to the inability of SD271 to follow Idaho statutes, coupled with their blatant disregard for common sense, the decision to fill the vacancy lawfully falls to the Kootenai Board of Commissioners. Given a questionable election and an illegal attempt to appoint, Jim Purtee seems the logical choice. Barring that, a special election should be held.

Charles Dodson and Hazel Bauman likewise need to be challenged as employees of SD271. It was under their watch that this shenanigan played out. They have further pursued policy to silence citizens who challenge district policy and direction. The election of Tom Hamilton and Terri Seymour provides sufficient evidence as to the will of the electorate in reigning in SD271 abuse.
