POEM: Unwanted

| December 22, 2012 8:25 PM

God sent me as a gift to you.

A gift of life; a gift of love.

But you didn’t want me, and sent me away.

If I’d had tears to cry, I would have cried, that day.

You let them do that to me.

I never thought you’d let them be so cruel.

Jesus must have felt like that, long ago.

They didn’t want him either, then, you know.

I never had a name. Unnamed, that’s me.

Like so many other kids without life, without birthdays.

I couldn’t have one. I was unwanted, unloved.

I didn’t even have a grave with a stone above.

I was helpless, human. But you saw me as a problem;

And I became a number on a full sheet.

A chance; that’s all I wanted, needed.

But you turned your back on me. Unheeded.

I could have helped change the world. Your world.

Maybe, I would have been in history’s pages.

You’ll never know; you’ll never have the chance again.

You’ve made your choice; your life will never be the same.

All because you didn’t want me.
