POSTAL: Mom has bad PO experience

| December 14, 2012 11:38 PM

As a longtime Post Falls resident, I am horrified by the treatment I am receiving at our local post office. I am a single mother who recently purchased a home in the Montrose development near West Ridge Elementary, but what was supposed to be an exciting move for me and my young daughters has turned into a nightmare when it comes to getting our mail. The local postmaster has said it cannot be delivered to my new home because there are fewer than three residences on my street.

This came as a complete surprise considering there is a mailbox sitting in front of my house; all of my nearby neighbors in the Montrose development get their mail with no problems; and I’m not only within city limits but also within walking distance from a Post Falls public school.

The Post Falls postmaster has not only yelled at me in front of my 11-year-old, listing his frustrations with all the new developments in Post Falls that are creating more work for him, but I also recently learned he has directed his staff to return all of my mail to sender unless I purchase a post office box there. I have since redirected my mail to my workplace, just to ensure I get it.

It may seem like a small inconvenience, but imagine not being able to get your mail. Imagine how embarrassed you’d be to find this is how Post Falls is treating its new homeowners.
