CLIFF: It's a long way down

| December 2, 2012 8:00 PM

Watching the news over the weekend, retailers are very happy with the money spent over this time period, I guess some records were broken. I guess most of these people that were trying to be the first in the store, pushing and shoving people didn’t see the news before telling people about the fiscal cliff, taxes going up and unemployment going up after the first of the year. Even before the election, large companies were reporting how many people they were going to let go after the first of the year. It amounted to thousands. I’m sure small companies will also be laying off.

I’m sure some of the people we saw on TV pushing and shoving will be some that will be let go in the future. I’m sure some of these people are still paying on last year’s Christmas gifts. I see more people getting on unemployment, food stamps and whatever entitlement program they can apply for. This is what the current administration wants, and so far they’re winning.
