RECALL: Woody's hair isn't relevant
I have read with great interest the letters about the recall. Most have been written by people who genuinely believe they are right. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Most of these letters have been in good taste, pointing out pros and cons. Then Doug Jewell decided to tell us how he feels. And I understood his arguments — until the last paragraph. At that point, Mr. Jewell became offensive.
Why was it necessary to be personally offensive to Woody McEvers? Look around, Mr. Jewell. Have you noticed the number of long-haired men who live in our area? Do you judge them all by their looks?
As a retail clerk, I recently was fortunate enough to meet Mr. McEvers. Not knowing who he was, I still found him to be gracious, courteous and well spoken. When I found out who he was, we discussed the fact that I didn’t agree with his stand on McEuen Field and still he remained gracious and courteous. I didn’t really pay much attention to the length of his hair — I was talking to the person, not the image.
As Mr. McEvers pointed out to me, we all have a right to our opinions. That includes you, Mr. Jewell. However, that right doesn’t include being rude and offensive on an issue that has nothing to do with the recall! Unless of course, the “POWER” you speak of is in Woody McEvers’ hair! Have you ever heard of Samson?
No, I don’t live in Coeur d’Alene, so I can’t vote on the recall. But Mr. McEvers’ business won’t “gain as long as the money keeps flowing into the downtown area” either. I believe his business is in Hayden, isn’t it?
