RECALL: Let's talk about it
To Doctor Riggs and the nice lady from the Library Foundation: I’d suggest you review your decisions to slam all of us who signed the initial Recall CdA Petition. I signed it and I also met with the mayor of Coeur d’Alene and fully explained my reasons to her for signing the recall. I’d like to sit down with either of you, or both at the same time, and also explain my reasons to you.
I fully supported the library and the Kroc Center. I donated to the initial Kroc Center Fund Drive as well, having pledged a substantial donation for the next 10 years to assist the first years of operation. I had no idea it would be such a success and will honor my pledge too, as my word is my bond. It is too bad that people write letters to the editor and enrage the general public by wrongfully blaming some who have taken action.
I’d like the local community to understand their being upset by the statements made by the good Doctor and Foundation member are unfounded, at least on my part. There may have been some of the initial signers of the petition who were against the library and/or the Kroc Center, but please do not speak for all of us.
You can contact the Coeur d’Alene Press as they have my home and cell phone number and my email address. I’ll buy the first cups of coffee and doughnuts and we can sit down and quietly discuss these issues peaceably. Anyone else who would like to discuss these issues with me would also be welcome to contact The Press for my private information.
