RECALL: Builders urge 'no' to signing

The North Idaho Building Contractors Association (NIBCA) Board of Directors urges all city of Coeur d’Alene residents that when asked to sign a recall petition of the mayor and three of our councilmen you tell them “No,” and remind them that disagreeing with someone’s opinion should be resolved at the polls through the normal election process, not through a recall action.

Although we recognize the right of citizens to undertake such an action in our democratic society, we believe that the impetus specific to this recall petition to remove the mayor and three City Council members because they don’t share the same opinion as their opponents’ is contrary to our democratic principles. Initiating a recall against these honest, hard working and duly elected representatives because one disagrees with their decision is unfair. We believe it will have a negative impact both on the local economy and our community at large.
