SAMARITAN: Thanks for road rescue
On April 6 I was driving up the incline toward Mullan Trail Road on the east end of Coeur d’Alene when my car quit running. I managed to pull off to the side, barely clearing the fog line at the edge of the road. I turned on my hazard lights and called my son for help. Traffic was heavy, with both lanes full around the corner where I was trapped in the car. Semi trucks and cars shook and rattled the car as too much traffic kept them from moving over to the inside lane.
Fear and cold clouded my thinking — what to do. I knew I needed immediate help, so I bowed my head in prayer. Not a minute later a big, white Frontier truck with a turning yellow caution light on the top pulled in behind me!
A small break in traffic allowed a lady driver to get out of the truck, get caution cones from the back, and put them along the side of the road and came back to talk to me. She agreed to stay until my son arrived, put on an orange caution vest and directed traffic while my son attached a tow-rope to the car. She then followed us to Mullan Trail exit where we were safe, and disappeared.
I would like to thank the Lord for hearing my prayer and for the “angel lady” sent to save my life and that of any car that could have side-swiped me on the freeway!
Thank you from the bottom of this great-grandma’s heart!
