INTEGRITY: No, I don't think so

| April 15, 2012 9:00 PM

While getting straight answers from government officials is often difficult, evaluating their trustworthiness can be accomplished rather easily.

It wasn’t that long ago when Coeur d’Alene’s City Council introduced “Team McEuen” and their proposal to revamp the park. One of the first promises made in support of their plan was that anything eliminated (specifically ball fields and boat ramps) would be replaced by “equal” or “improved” facilities. That was their promise to the community.

A few days ago that promise was tested. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that moving boat trailer parking five blocks further away isn’t “equal to” and certainly not “improved” from its existing location. Yet, neither the mayor, nor the three council members had the integrity to simply say, “We can’t do that, because that’s not what we promised.”

It’s no wonder efforts are under way to have these people replaced.
