RECALL: Find a middle ground

| April 13, 2012 9:00 PM

I have been reading and following the debate over McEuen Field and the surrounding area project in Coeur d’Alene for some time. I agree with Jack Riggs that to recall our City Council members for offering and supporting what they feel is the proper position is wrong. We elected these people to do just that and they are simply doing their job.

However I do feel that there should be a middle ground in this entire subject. That The Coeur d’Alene Resort should have a boat launch near its hotel goes without question. It is a major destination for our area and needs that. However, it could be a private one operated by The Resort for their clients only and therefore not pose that much of a parking issue.

As for the public, how about following up with the idea that one reader submitted to use the Blackwell Island Marina area? It is already built and I suspect to expand the parking there would be a reasonably simple task. That way the additional parking and public auto traffic would not interfere with our beautiful downtown Coeur d’Alene area.
