Gerald 'Wayne' Sweat, 67
Gerald “Wayne” Sweat passed away April 9, 2012, at Life Care in Post Falls. He was born Oct. 5, 1944, in Durham N.C., to Edythe and Clifford Gerald Sweat. He lived in many places but Georgia was always home.
He is survived by his wife, Mary and children Erin and Tyler; son-in-law Travis Rust; grandchildren, Sadie and Kali, and Jasun Larson-Sweat. Also his best friend, his Golden Retriever Raleigh.
Wayne went to University of Georgia on a football scholarship and in 1964 enlisted in the Air Force. He traveled the world as a loadmaster on C-131s but mostly flew into Vietnam.
After his discharge, he was hired into the Union Pacific Railroad in 1969. He loved being a Brakeman and the people he worked with. In 1980 he was severely injured on the job and was unable to return to “Braking” so he went into management. After many re-locations he was put on Long Term Disability in 1994 because of persisting medical problems. He officially retired from the U.P.R.R. in 2009.
Wayne will be remembered for his love of animals and beautiful, fast cars. He lived life his way and was always true to himself. He will be missed.
No service is planned at this time. English Chapel, Post Falls, is in charge of the arrangements.
