STORY: Deserved more coverage
I am a parent at Winton Elementary who attended the faux wax museum on Tuesday, April 3, that the fourth-grade students put on. When I heard that The Press had been there I was very excited to read the write up on the event that I felt was completely impressive. When I got to my paper in the morning I was a little disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, I was happy that the event was mentioned with a beautiful photo of my daughter’s best friend but, where was the write up? The picture alone did not give any information about why the event was held or what went into it.
The students worked very hard learning about their character and designing a poster to have at their display. The parents worked hard helping to gather items that could be used as props and costumes. The teachers worked hard giving extra time to put the event together and help every step of the way.
When I walked into the wax museum, I couldn’t help but cry. These fourth-grade students did such a superb job remaining still and staying in character that I kept forgetting that they were kids. They did an excellent job researching their characters which ranged from athletes, inventors, writers, royalty and more. I am so proud of each and every one of them.
This was an excellent example of the high quality learning happening in our school district because parents, students and teachers are willing to go above and beyond in their efforts. Thank you to all the teachers, students and volunteers who made this event happen!
