Marion (Skip) Delaney Jr., 66

| April 7, 2012 9:00 PM

Was called away to join the Lord, with all that passed before him March 21, 2012. Skip was born in Spokane on July 4, 1945, to Vivian Hofmeister and Marion Delaney.

His family moved to Hauser Lake when he was in grade school. He attended Lakeland schools in Rathdrum and graduated in 1963. Skip joined the Army in 1965 and served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. He was honorably discharged in 1968.

He attended Spokane Community College to obtain his welding degree and graduated in 1971. He became an Iron-Worker, and his work took him and his family all over the Midwest. Skip resided in Hauser Lake a good part of his life, unless he was “Wintering” as he liked to say in Arizona and Mexico. Skip believed you live everyday to its fullest, for it may be your last, and this is what he did. He had a great love for Harleys and the open road. He loved the wind in his face and if he could ride that day he would.

Skip is survived by: Mary Delaney; daughters, Carrie Delaney-Curtis, Stacy and Trina Delaney; sons, Kelly, Doug and Don Delaney; grandchildren, A.J. Delaney-Weathers, Jacob, Taylor and Sevin Davis, Fenicia Harington, Misty Delaney-Huff, Casey Delaney, Jamison and Jaiydan Delaney, Justine Delaney-Siver, and Willow and Dove Delaney; great-grandchildren, Haylii Delaney and Aquila Delaney; amongst other family and friends he considered family, as do we.

He was preceded in death by: mother Vivian Hofmeister, father Marion Delaney, daughter Marion Tabish-Delaney and grandson Ryan William Curtis.

Skip lived a full and happy life. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He will live forever in our memories and forever in our hearts.

A benefit in his honor will be held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012. A celebration of Skip’s life will be held beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2012, both at Dinki Di’s in Hauser Lake. The family thanks everyone for their love and support.
