RECALL: You're off target, people

| April 6, 2012 9:00 PM

OK, I’ve heard enough! Obviously there are some people around town who need new hobbies. You do not know how good you have it in this city. Try Los Angeles, Oakland, Spokane, New York if you don’t like the City Council or mayor here! Yes you have the perfect political right to try a recall, but REALLY! Anyone who cares to look and take notes would see that a full 70 percent of those using the Third Street boat launch have Washington license plates on them. Ask me, do I care if they have to drive down a couple more exits to launch their boats. Ah, no!

The real issue is not how many lanes of launching, how much parking for boat trailers or “boating” convenience. I have been down to the boat launch on warm summer days for the past 17 years and I know what the big issue is. That proposed new boat launch is too far from the local bars! I mean what kind of day can you have on the water without a few drinks? (The actual answer is a SAFE ONE!).

One writer complained about how “beautiful” the current McEuen park is” and why change it. Really? The park is 40 percent pavement. I guess that makes Northwest Boulevard nearly as nice; I mean it’s only a little more asphalt when you take in the center divider plantings and the edges. Maybe we should try and tear down The Resort and put back the mill, mill pond and log yard. I mean that’s the way it used to be.
