JORGENSON: He's best for economy

| April 6, 2012 9:00 PM

There is one overriding concern in Idaho and that’s the state of the economy. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Gov. Otter’s plan to stimulate the economy by passing the Idaho Global Entrepreneurial Mission, literally sailed through the legislature, gathering nearly unanimous support. This plan supports collaboration between university researchers and private industry and who could be against that? Steve Vick, that’s who.

I’m not sure why Steve Vick opposes innovative approaches to improve the economy. It is interesting to me that his conservative brethren, namely Phil Hart, found it sufficiently sound to vote for at the time. Perhaps this is simply Steve Vick trying to stand on his own, separating himself from his mentor or could there be another reason to defy a plan so widely and enthusiastically supported?

We need to work together to solve the serious problems facing the Idaho economy. Steve Vick is a nice enough guy, but do we need someone in office who is serving such a small sliver of the population that he can’t work with the rest of us to find common ground on the most pressing issues affecting Idaho voters — Jobs and the Economy? I think not. That’s why I’m supporting Mike Jorgenson for the Senate.
