DEPUTIES: Get more on street
After experiencing 38 stalking incidents including breaking and entering, burglary, destruction of property and threats since October 2010 at three homes and two businesses, I am at a loss as to why the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department and prosecutor say there is nothing they can do.
Sixteen police reports have been filed. Only recently did detectives on the case realize the reports were related to each other because half were sent to property crimes and half to people crimes. On the other hand how could the diligent and overworked property crimes detective see this when working on 100 burglaries in our county by herself?
The last sheriff’s deputy we did a report with said there were the same number of officers on duty that night as 20 years ago. How can this be when the population of the county has doubled in that time?
John Green says restructuring could put more officers on the street and special operations could catch the perpetrator. Why should deputies do nothing but take endless reports on such a case? I would like to hear what other candidates would do. Would you like the current administration to handle this case if it were your property?
