Dorothy Dunn, 74

| April 5, 2012 10:00 PM

Dorothy Dunn, 74, of Coeur d’Alene, died on Saturday, March 24, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born in Chicago, Ill., on Dec. 10, 1937, to Frank and Lillian (Kalinowski) Usdrowski.

Dorothy worked as a secretary to raise her two daughters and in 1972 courageously moved with them to live in rural North Idaho. She later married Bill “Pops” Dunn and they spent many adventurous years together. Dorothy placed her family above all else… Long live the Christmas Eve Family Feast!

Fishing was her favorite sport, and she also liked gardening, mushroom hunting, bird watching (especially her beloved hummingbirds) and BINGO! One other favorite destination in recent years was Worley to try her hand at Lady Luck.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Doreen Shababy (Dave Veitch) and Deanna McDevitt (Ken); her brother, Frank Usdrowski (Val) and sister Carol Romagnano (Joe); her grandchildren, Rose Shababy (Mike Fellin), Beth McDevitt and Zach McDevitt; great-grandsons, Quinton and Leeland Shababy; and many beloved nieces and nephews and their families.

Dorothy’s family deeply thanks the caregivers at Hospice House of North Idaho, “Hummingbird Fields,” for all their kindness, care, friendship and love, not only to Dorothy but to all of us as well. The family asks that you please direct your gifts to Hospice House.

A service will be held for Dorothy at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012, at St. Pius X Church, with Fr. Roger LaChance officiating. A lunch reception at Ponderosa Springs Golf Course will immediately follow.

Yates Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the care of the final arrangements. Please visit Dorothy’s online memorial and sign her guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
