BOISE (AP) - John C. Porter, a former Rexburg newspaper publisher and mayor, has died at 99.
His family said he suffered a heart attack Friday and died at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg.
Porter was active in Democratic politics and his family said editorials he wrote in the 1950s helped efforts to reverse a decision by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to move Brigham Young University-Idaho from Rexburg to Idaho Falls.
