LETTERS: Better than coffee, folks

| September 23, 2011 10:00 PM

Reading the "Letters to the Editor" on Sept. 16 was really a way to start the day.

Some lady who moved to Coeur d'Alene in 1985 and has been trying to change things ever since is all for the mayor's "Spend the taxpayers broke" ideas and get those pesky ball playing kids out of the park and away from downtown. In fact, the people that use the boat ramp are also a rabble-rousing group so send them packing too.

Then some "lady" from "Sleepy Hollow," N.Y., thinks grizzly bears are needed for the food chain so I say send her a breeding pair and turn them loose in the middle of Sleepy Hollow. Give us a follow-up on how they do. If she'd done just a little research she'd have discovered that grizzly bears originated as plains animals. Unfortunately, they don't get along with wheat or corn farmers.

As for the wolf lover in Spokane, put a breeding pair in each park in Spokane and again give us a follow up on how they do. Why is it you never hear such nonsense from anyone living in the mountains anywhere? Wolf and bear lovers normally live in the city and think all animals are like Yogi Bear and his little buddy BooBoo.

Give me a break! When you are in the food chain it's only smart to eliminate those things that eat you and live close to your home.
