Jayne Althia McNeil, 90

Jayne Althia McNeil, 90, of Kellogg, passed away at her home on Sept. 20, 2011. She was born June 8, 1921, in Knox, Ind., to Stanley and Gladys (Pennell) Fout. Jayne graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School.

Jayne served in the Women's Army Corp from 1942-1946 where she was stationed in Italy. She enjoyed traveling the Italian countryside on her Indian motorcycle. After her return to the states, Jayne married John McNeil, a friend since childhood, in 1946. They raised their family in Spokane. The couple enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii.

Jayne was a very dedicated and loving mother and wife. She enjoyed the time she got to spend with her family as a homemaker. Along with her love of family, she also enjoyed crocheting and all types of craftmaking.

After John retired in 1981, Jayne and he moved to Mesa, Ariz. Jayne then moved to the Silver Valley six years ago to be near her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Palmer (Rocky) of Kellogg; grandchildren Rocky J. Palmer (Christina) of West Liberty, Ohio, Holly Morgan (Chris) of Ashburn, Va., John Palmer of Coeur d'Alene and Matthew Strobridge of North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Savannah Morgan, Amara Palmer, Emily Palmer and Sophia Palmer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jayne is preceded in death by her husband, John, in 2000; her brother, Richard Fout and her sister, Freida. Also her son, David, as an infant and her daughter, Cynthia Strobridge in 1989.
