Annie Madeline Fisher, 71
Annie passed away in her Post Falls home on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011. Annie was born April 17, 1940, in Tekoa, Wash., to George Adelbert Fisher and Madeline Elmira (Hilliker) Fisher.
She lived in the Northwest her entire life. An artist, she created many beautiful oil paintings and wood burnings on scrap wood. She loved to fish, hunt and spend time in the outdoors. Picking huckleberries was an annual summer event in which she camped all summer, then sold her berries to roadside customers.
She loved her pets, including horses, donkeys, goats, chickens, dogs and cats. She worked and played hard. With her green thumb, she kept many treasured plants for decades, some from her childhood.
Annie was a housewife and homemaker, and she loved to cook for her family and to preserve foods. She was also a foster parent, and opened her home to children awaiting adoption. She loved to read, especially Louis L'Amour western novels. She enjoyed playing card games and Yahtzee, doing crosswords, and putting puzzles together. Her favorite music was country-western.
She also held many jobs: a ranch hand on the farm her parents owned, a Christmas tree grader, a camp cook for her logging family, a dishwasher at the high school, a waitress in a diner and packing/grading cedar shakes in a lumber mill. She attained her GED and received an associate's degree in graphic arts.
She had three marriages: Robert Trapp, Jim Oliver and Dave Worley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Madeline of Coeur d'Alene, and by her eldest daughter, Anita Allison of St. Maries.
She is survived by her siblings, Isaac Fisher of Portland, Ore., Shirley Goldberg of Post Falls and Mary Tappen of Dalton Gardens; her daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Jeff Hammons of Post Falls; her son and his girlfriend, David Oliver and Jeannie Dolan of Deary; and her son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Stephanie Oliver of Rathdrum. She has seven grandchildren: Jeffrey, Jeremy, Alecia, Andrea, Debbie, Ryan and Rebecca; seven great-grandchildren: Joyce, Alexander, Nevaeh, Jessica, Charlotte, Aimee and LeeRoy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
"Make yourself familiar with the angels, and behold them frequently in spirit; for without being seen, they are present with you." - St. Francis de Sales
